Affirming businesses

Every listing here is opt-in. A business appears only after it asks to. Nobody is added without saying yes first.

First Thursday OUT

Once a month, on the first Thursday, we take over a different business somewhere in the Hills. Show up alone, show up with friends, show up and leave after twenty minutes. No program, no speeches, no cover.

It rotates on purpose. A venue hosts, a hundred people walk through the door on a slow weeknight, and that business earns its place in the directory. The calendar is the memory. This is the engine.

Businesses: host a First Thursday

You provide the room and your normal staff. We bring the crowd and the promotion. No fee either direction.

Where we've been

The first one is still ahead of us. This is where the map fills in: a new place every month, and every one of them a business that opened its doors to us.

Resources

The pages people look for at 2am. Crisis lines are national, verified, and free. The rest are local referrals.

Crisis & immediate help Verified

Affirming healthcare

Primary care, hormone therapy, sexual health, and providers who have told us directly that they welcome LGBTQIA+ patients.

Providers go up here as they confirm. Each one is added only after telling us directly that they welcome LGBTQIA+ patients.

Trans & nonbinary

Name and gender marker changes in South Dakota, informed-consent care, peer support, and a plain-language guide to what the current law does and does not require.

Youth & family

Groups for ages 13–18, a circle for parents figuring it out, and school-based resources across the Hills.

Legal & financial

Estate planning that recognizes your partner, workplace discrimination, adoption and second-parent questions, and attorneys who have handled them before.

Faith communities

Congregations in the Black Hills that are openly affirming. Not "welcoming but". Actually affirming.

Be part of it

List your business, or put an event on the calendar. Both take about a minute.
